ATHENAEUM SECTION
The Athenaeum Section meets the first Friday of each month at 10:00 am. We have a short business meeting and then our members play either Bridge or Canasta. We fund our charities by giving 3 to 4 bridge parties per year and we also take part in our Club’s annual Christmas family. This last Christmas we purchased gifts for two of the children in the family and gave money towards their Christmas dinner. For more information, call Caroline at: (619) 291-1452.
ARTS AND CRAFTS SECTION
The Arts and Crafts Section meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month from September through May at 10:00 a.m. During the months of June, July and August we meet every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. We invite all club members and friends to join us for conversation, cards or working on our various projects. Our current focus is blankets, quilts and afghans to be donated to women’s shelters around San Diego. We continue to work on clipping and mailing coupons to military bases around the world, making preemie caps for Children’s Hospital and chemo caps for a cancer treatment center. Bring along coupons to be cut and sorted. Donations of yarn or fabric can be used for projects and any ideas you may have for us. In addition, we will be collecting magazine and self-help books for women at Father Joe’s Village. Our section made a cash donation last year to House of Rachel, a facility which assists homeless older women. For more information, call Karen at: (619) 286-3979.
EVENING STARS SECTION
The Evening Stars Section meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm. We have a wide range of different and wonderful program speakers. After our programs we socialize and share our views about various current topics. Our members come from various backgrounds and our numbers continue to grow. BOOKS & VIEWS SECTION
The Books & Views Section meets the fourth Tuesday of the month. Lunch is served at 12 noon and the business meeting starts at 12:45 pm. We have book reports on interesting books and discussions as well as travelogues. We donate books and sell them too. We also have guest authors speak to our group about their books. If you love books, come join us!
